Naas Credit Union School Saving Scheme
At Naas Credit Union we think saving is a very important life skill. We have partnered with 12 local primary schools to run a School Savings Scheme.
The benefits of teaching children about money early on are both immediate and long term. In the short term, they may develop strong saving habits, learn how to make smart purchases and learn why they can’t immediately get everything they want. In the long term, it helps them avoid getting into debt. And by teaching the value of saving for the future, it puts them on the road to financial security.
Taking part in the scheme gives the children the opportunity to save in the school on a regular basis and earns a double dividend for the school, raising much needed vital funds for school activities.
The minimum payment to the school is €500 with a maximum benefit of €2500 depending on contributions of the children made within the school savings scheme.

The Credit Union attends the school every Friday morning to give the children from 2nd class to 6th class an opportunity to save their money.
The Credit Union has presented the school with a cheque for €500 every year since Scoil Bhríde started participating in the School Saving Scheme. All at Scoil Bhríde thanks the Credit Union for this generous contribution which is used to purchase Maths resources.
