Scoil Bhríde has applied for its first Green Schools Flag. Green Schools is an international environmental education programme and award scheme that promotes and acknowledges long-term, whole school action for the environment. The theme of our application is litter and waste reduction. As part of our efforts to reduce litter and waste in the school, our excellent student committee has organised a three bin system throughout the school. Now every classroom has a waste, recycling and compost bin. We are encouraging all students to engage with the process through the use of our Green Code “You will be cool if you recycle and compost for your school!” and we would love if you re-enforced this message at home. If your child has any ideas about how we can further improve our school’s litter and waste reduction efforts, they can pass it on to any member of the student committee, whose names and photos are displayed on our Green Schools noticeboard near reception.
